3-alarm fireplace burns 2 buildings on the West Oakland Recycling Heart – CBS San Francisco

OAKLAND (CBS SF) – Nearly 60 Oakland firefighters stayed on Saturday afternoon to a three-alarm fire at a recycling facility in West Oakland off Interstate 880.

On the fire department’s Twitter account, firefighters said firefighters from 19 Oakland fire departments had the fire at the California Waste Solutions recycling facility at 1820 10th St. crews continued to pour water on the recycling materials stacked at the facility and on the recycling piles inside Courtyard where the fire continued to burn.

When the fire will be extinguished could not be estimated.

The fire broke out in two buildings on the property around 2 p.m., with an additional building threatened and a large recycling heap burned in the courtyard.

The California Highway Patrol announced late Saturday afternoon that the fire had never affected traffic on Interstate 880, which is adjacent to the recycling facility.
