Amy’s Drive Via is searching for the closest vegetarian quick meals restaurant location in Oakland

• Representatives of the North Bay mini-chain Amy’s Drive Thru met with BID (Business Improvement District) groups in the Temescal neighborhood of Oakland. The vegetarian fast food restaurant plans to expand to a new location on 40th Street and Telegraph Avenue. The company is owned by the same company that makes Amy’s frozen food line. Some concerns raised by BID members include increased exhaust emissions from vehicles using the passageway, pedestrian safety, and whether or not the neighborhood needs another fast food restaurant. • The Tailor’s Son Italian restaurant opens on March 31st at 2049 Fillmore Street. The new addition, Lower Pacific Heights, comes from the Back of the House restaurant group (which sits behind places like Beretta, the upscale vegan Wildseed, and Burger Minikette Super Duper.) The menu comes from A Mano Chef Freedom Rains and features lots of pasta and Antipasti, the specialty being risotto. [Hoodline]

• Workers at the chocolate manufacturer Löwenzahn want to organize themselves into a union. With the union, the employees hope for higher wages and better safety precautions in the workplace. The employees will vote on the possibility of joining the International Longshore and Warehouse Union in the next few weeks. [SF Chronicle]
