Oakland News Now – California News Times illegally scrapes Oakland News Now content for use on Google News – Vlog from Zennie62 YouTube

California News Times is now illegally scraping content from Oakland News for use in Google News

That is outrageous and also illegal. It is not legal for any person or company to wholesale and post Oakland News Now content to essentially replace where Oakland News Now content would appear in search – no excerpt and no obvious trackback -Link.

But that is exactly what the owners of the California News Times have done and are doing.

Who is CaliforniaNewsTimes.com? It’s hard to know right now, but I’m working on it. They don’t even post the names of the authors, which I think is outside of the Google News rules. From the appearances in the design and operation of the topic, the California News Times looks like EMINETRA.COM, another web scraping site that first picked up the content from Oakland News Now, but then essentially about two months after it came up CaliforniaNewsTimes.com stopped.

I’ve reached out to Google Search Honcho Danny Sullivan about this, but no answer yet.

Hey @dannysullivan, why are you and @googlesearchc allowing the California News Times to steal Oakland News Now content and post it on Google News? pic.twitter.com/MTjyPHbq2c

I’m not saying it’s Danny’s fault, but I think that if he were he would be able to make sure that Google’s guidelines are followed and that users are protected.

Note from Zennie62Media’s Zennie62Media YouTube blog and the Oakland News Now Today SF Bay Area blog: This video blog post demonstrates the full and live operation of the latest updated version of an experimental Zennie62Media, Inc. network for video blogging -Mobile Media Systems, which launched in June 2018, is an integral part of Zennie62Media, Inc.’s new and innovative approach to news media production. What we call “The Third Wave of Media”. The uploaded video is from a vlogger with the Zennie62 on YouTube partner channel, is then uploaded to the Oakland News Now site and Zennie62’s own social media pages and is automatically formatted. The overriding goal is smartphone-based reporting in real time on site about news, interviews, observations and events all over the world and within seconds, not hours. Now it is reported with a smartphone: No heavy and expensive cameras or even a laptop are necessary. The secondary goal is faster and very inexpensive production and distribution of media content. We found that there is a discrepancy between post length and time to product and revenue generated. This means that the problem is much smaller, but by no means solved. Zennie62Media is constantly working to improve the system’s network coding and is looking for interested content and media technology partners.
