Crews management hearth alongside I-580 heading west in Oakland close to Keller Avenue – CBS San Francisco

OAKLAND (CBS SF) – Firemen in Oakland were able to put down a grass fire that is burning next to the lanes of I-580 heading west near Keller Avenue, authorities said.

The Oakland Fire Department’s Twitter account first published about the fire around 12:30 p.m. Several fire departments, as well as the California Highway Patrol and Oakland Police, responded to help control traffic.

The Oakland Firefighters Twitter account posted a short Citizen app clip showing a large cloud of smoke rising from the slope along the highway.

According to the CHP, the fire forced the right-hand lanes and the hard shoulder of the motorway to be closed. Motorists have been advised to expect delays and use alternative routes to avoid the area.

At around 1:00 p.m., Oakland Fire updated the incident and announced that the fire was under control.
