Man charged with beating Oakland homeless to loss of life with skateboard – CBS San Francisco

OAKLAND (BCN) – A 36-year-old man was arrested and charged with murder for repeatedly hitting a homeless man on the head with a skateboard while sleeping on an Oakland sidewalk earlier this month, Alameda County prosecutors said .

Joshua Stroman is charged with the death of Kenyon Graham, found by officers answering at 12:44 am on December 12 on the 500 block on 45th Street after someone called to report a man lying dead on the sidewalk .

According to the prosecution documents in the case, Stroman approached Graham and repeatedly hit him on the head with a skateboard. Investigators watched surveillance videos and calls to the emergency center to determine that Stroman was apparently also the person who called 911 to report the case.

When officers arrested Stroman, he was in possession of the skateboard and the phone that was used to call 911, and is said to have confessed to the attack during an interview with the police, prosecutors said.

Stroman is due to appear before the Alameda County Supreme Court on Thursday for a possible plea, according to the prison’s booking logs.
