This year seems to be passing by in a flash. It’s already June. It’s so hard to believe Maybe it’s because companies reopen and people can meet. It seems like we have a semblance of normalcy again.
We had a wonderful music service on that rainy June morning. “Bind Us Together” and “Because He Lives” were songs from the church. Special music by the children’s choir was “Old Church Choir” followed by “He Knows My Name” by the Mathis family.
Brother Don’s message this week was from the writings of John and was entitled “The Meaning of Eternal Life.
“What was from the beginning, what we heard, what we saw with our eyes, what we looked at and handled with our hands, the word of life – life was revealed and we saw, testified and proclaimed you the eternal life that was with the Father and was revealed to us – what we have seen and heard, we proclaim to you, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and true is our communion with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ. And we write these things to you so that your notepad is full, ”1 John 1: 1-4.
Eternal life is more than living forever. Eternal life is more than the rewards that await us in heaven. We think of eternal life as a period of time. Eternal life is a person. It was revealed to us, seen by us, with the Father, then with us. Eternal life is Jesus, who was revealed to us, was seen by us and who was and is with us.
“So let what you heard from the beginning stay within you. If what you heard from the beginning remains in you, you will also remain in the Son and the Father. And this is the promise he has promised us eternal life, ”1 John 2: 24-35.
Eternal life is a promise and he promises to give us a part of his life. “And I give them eternal life and they will never perish; neither will anyone tear them out of my hand. My father, who gave them to me, is greater than all, and no one can snatch them out of my father’s hand. I and my Father are one, ”John 10: 28-29.
Eternal life is indwelling. “He who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life” 1 John: 3:15.
Eternal life lives in Jesus. Eternal life exists because it resides in Jesus. Eternal life is known to those to whom the Holy Spirit has been given.
“Nobody has seen it at any point. When we love one another, God abides in us, and his love has become perfect in us. “This is how we know that we abide in him and he is in us because he has given us of his spirit” 1 John 4: 12- 13th
Eternal life is knowledge.
“And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and that life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God has no life. I have written these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life and continue to believe in the name of the Son of God ”, 1 John 5: 11-13.
John wrote these words so that we could believe and know that we have eternal life and that those who have eternal life can continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.

There are still many who need prayer out of grief or illness. Let us lift her up every time we pray for comfort and health. Our country and our elected officials must also be covered with prayer in order to make good decisions that please God and bring glory to God.
Have a wonderful week and God bless you all!
