Everport Terminal Services Inc. invests in its Oakland operations
Oakland, CA – June 21, 2021: Another new towering Ship-to-Shore (STS) crane arrives at the Port of Oakland this week. The crane will be shipped to the Everport Marine Terminal in Oakland operated by Everport Terminal Services, Inc. (ETS).
This investment in a new STS container crane will improve the infrastructure and freight operations at the ETS terminal in Oakland. The new crane has a lift height from the dock of 170 feet.
New container cranes help keep the Port of Oakland competitive so it can continue to attract and handle the largest ships calling at North America. Ultimately, infrastructure like this new crane on the Oakland waterfront will help the northern California maritime business grow and create jobs in the area, the port said.
ETS ordered the crane from ZPMC in Shanghai. The crane is expected to arrive at the Oakland Seaport later this week. First, the ZPMC ship with the huge crane will anchor near Pt. Reyes, Marin County, California, for a few days starting tonight, June 21st. Pt. Reyes is about 30 miles west-northwest of San Francisco Bay.
The ship’s crew will do some preparatory work to ensure that the ZPMC crane fits under the famous Golden Gate and San Francisco / Oakland Bay bridges on the final leg of its journey from China to the Port of Oakland. The passage of the partially assembled ZPMC crane under the bridges should be visually dramatic.
After the STS crane is delivered to the Everport Marine Terminal in Oakland, it will take about two months to reassemble, test, and commission the crane.
