President Joseph R. Biden Jr. today declared that the state of Florida is in an emergency and ordered federal assistance to supplement state, indigenous, and local response efforts to the emergency conditions due to Tropical Storm Fred, effective August 13, 2021 , and further.

The action of the President empowers the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to coordinate all disaster relief efforts aimed at alleviating the hardship and suffering of the local population caused by the emergency and to provide necessary assistance in accordance with Title V of the Stafford Act have been approved to save lives and property, as well as public health and safety and the risk of disaster in counties of Bay, Calhoun, Citrus, Dixie, Escambia, Franklin. reduce or avert, Gadsden, Gilchrist, Gulf, Holmes, Jackson, Jefferson, Lafayette, Leon, Levy, Liberty, Manatee, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, Taylor, Wakulla, Walton and Washington.

In particular, FEMA has the power, in its sole discretion, to identify, mobilize, and deploy equipment and resources necessary to alleviate the effects of the emergency.
