The Sutherlin / Oakland Food Pantry is expanding its opening hours.

Wendy Wilson, director of the pantry, said the nonprofit is serving the Sutherlin, Oakland, and surrounding North Counties communities and providing healthy staples along with Franz Bread, Umpqua Dairy milk, and local produce for those who need a little extra help each month supplies.

Wilson said the group decided to open in the afternoon and early evening to reach those who can’t get the pantry open during the regular morning hours. Starting in November, the opening times are Monday and Wednesday mornings from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and Wednesday afternoons from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Wilson said income qualifications have changed over the past year. Those who aren’t sure if they fall into the income brackets should contact the pantry for more information. She said the organization is run by volunteers so anyone who wants to help should give her a call too.

The Sutherlin / Oakland Food Pantry is located at 183 East 1st Avenue in Sutherlin. Visit the Pantry’s Facebook page for more information.
