TVA Helps Households Struggling With MLGW Water Disaster – FOX13 Information Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – While MLGW is struggling with its water supply, the company that wants to keep providing electricity to the utility gave Memphis something else on Monday.

TVA donated more than 80,000 bottles of water to help families struggling with the city’s water crisis after last week’s winter weather.

The water will go to several groups to get into the church.

TVA plans to distribute these cases of water in the city of Memphis, such as downtown, even in communities like Orange Mound, Arlington, and Germantown.

In the next 24 to 48 hours, TVA will receive another shipment of water, not including the 80,000 bottles it donated on Monday.

These 80,000 bottles are distributed to partners in the community who ensure that the water gets into the hands of people with little or no access to water.

A truck brings the suitcases to almost 10 locations across the community.

People can get the water in the coming days.

One man said he hasn’t had water in his Midtown home in five days, so people are happy when people in the community pay it up.

“It comes down to a man-made effort, and there are so many others,” said Mark Yates; TVA Regional Vice President.

“That’s important. 80,000 bottles of water are no easy task to be moved in 72 hours.”

“That means that the church is more likely to care about the people. I’m grateful for that, ”said Beverly Smith of Memphis.

The drivers started in Alabama and drove overnight, then picked up the water in Nashville and reached Memphis at 9 a.m. on Saturday after driving through ice and snow.
